Please read Kristy's composition first.
Then, you wll read Charles' composition.

I would like you to think about how you can make improvement to Charles' writing. He has a good story line but we can do a lot more to spice up the story.

Can you think through and you can post your suggestion in our class blog.
We will have a discussion as a class. Do put on your thinking hat.

Thank you.

_______ Kristie's Composition ___________

“Wosh!” I was woken up with a start. I thought it could be mom or dad who had made the noise. They could be awake. It was in the middle of the night!
Then, "Crush!" I had to find out what had happened.
I walked out of my room and saw that my parents’ bedroom door was still shut.  Quickly, I opened their bedroom door. They were sound asleep. I had to wake them up. We need to find out what had caused the crushing sound!
I woke Mom up. "What's wrong?" asked Mom drowsily. I told mom about the noise. I began to feel my heart pounding quickly. My throat was so tight and I could not swallow my spit. I thought that someone could be in our house. The thought terrified me. Mom did not believe me and said that I had imagined the sound.  She wanted to go back to sleep.  I wanted Mom and Dad to investigate what had caused the noise.
Mom had no choice but to wake Dad up too.  Suddenly, “Crush!” again.  Dad was startled to and got out of bed immediately. Dad took a torch with him as he walked out of the bedroom very quietly. Mom and I followed him.
When we walked down the stairs, the lounge was totally dark. I was so frightened that I could not breathe, I felt suffocated in the dark.
"What's wrong, dear?" Mom asked. "Crush!" The sound again! This time it was louder than before. Mom, Dad and I walked into the living room where my new pet Little Ail was. Little Ail was nowhere to be found.
"Where is Little Ail?" I asked Mom. I was worried. I wondered what had happened to Little Ail.  I felt like crying. "Come on, now is not the time to look for Little Ail. We have to find out who is in the kitchen?" said Dad. He walked towards the kitchen. Mom and I followed.
When we reached the kitchen, the kitchen door was opened. Mom was puzzled. She remembered that she had closed the kitchen door before going to bed. Dad went into the kitchen while mom and I waited outside.  We peeped inside. Dad told me to get ready to call the police if there was a burglar in the house.
Dad switched on the lights. We were all surprised!  Little Ail was inside the kitchen! Little Ail must be searching for food. The kitchen was in a mess. Oh dear! I had forgotten to feed Little Ail earlier!
"Ha! Ha! It was only Little Ail," Dad laughed.
I gave Little Ail a bowl filled with cat food. Quickly, Little Ail ate up all her food in the shortest time. She must be starving. I felt terrible to have forgotten to feed her. Later, I carried Little Ail to her bed and she fell asleep almost instantly. I learnt a lesson that night. I learnt that I must remember to feed Little Ail every day. I must be a responsible pet owner if I want to keep a pet.
Finally, we all went back to bed. I felt really exhausted after all the excitement in the middle of the night.

_________ Charles' Composition ____________
It was a dark night. Jane and her parents were watching television and when the television program ended, they went to bed.
While Jane was sleeping, she was woken up by a noise. She suspected that the noise could be coming from the kitchen. It sounded like a spoon or a fork had dropped on the floor.
“How could something drop in the middle of the night? Could it be a burglar in the house?” Jane was worried. Quickly, she went to her parents’ room. She woke them up.
Jane’s father grabbed a torch and they rushed to the kitchen immediately to investigate. In the kitchen, the only thing they saw was a cat. They were puzzled. How did the cat get into the house? Upon checking the cat’s collar, they saw a name “Lily” printed on the collar. They knew that the cat belonged to their neighbor. They also recalled noticing some posters pasted on the walls at the void deck that day. Their neighbor had lost their pet cat, Lily and had appealed to their neighbours for help.
Jane took a small box and put a cloth in it. She gave Lily some milk. After feeding the cat, she put it into the box. They would return the cat to their neighbour the next day. The next morning, Jane’s dad returned the cat to their neighbor. Their neighbor was so grateful and thanked them profusely. Jane learned that if you find something you must return it to its rightful owner.
